SPOKESMAN NEWS SERVICE: CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 22: With a view to provide much-needed help to the families of the victims who died of Cholera in district Hoshiarpur, the Punjab Government has released the compensation amount of 16 lakh. Disclosing this here today Mr. Brahm Mohinhdra, Health and Family Welfare Minister said that the compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each to the families of the 8 Cholera victims has been given.

Health Minister said that the amount of 16 lakh has been credited in the account of Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur. As per the latest reports Mr. Sundar Sham Arora, Industries and Commerce Minister and Local MLA has already handed over the cheques to the bereaved families.
The Minister said that after the outbreak of Cholera at Hoshiarpur this year 8 person fell prey to the Cholera and died subsequently. He said to confirm the accurate figure of the deaths, Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur was directed to constitute a district level committee to conduct the death audit. He said that report of this committee was submitted to the Health Department and it attributed the primary cause of 8 deaths to the outbreak of Cholera.

The Health Minister said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had made announcement that Punjab Government would provide compensation of Rs. 2 lakh to the families of each victim who died of Cholera outbreak. “complying the orders of Chief Minister the Punjab Government has released the compensation amount to the families of the victims in a record time” disclosed Mr. Brahm Mohinhdra.
