Minister's Move Follows Punjab & Haryana HC Orders, Impacting Multiple Bus Companies
CHANDIGARH: In a significant development, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar has taken a resolute stance by canceling permits associated with buses owned by the Badal family. The affected permits encompass 39 routes operated by eight companies, among them Orbit Buses, following orders issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. These cancellations entail 13 permits held by Dabwali Transport, 12 by Orbit, 7 by Jujhar Bus Service, and 3 by New Deep Bus Company.
Subsequent to the High Court's directive, a letter from the Regional Transport Authority (R.T.A.) Secretary of Bathinda, Ferozepur, Patiala, and Jalandhar has been dispatched to the respective secretaries. The missive underscores that the canceled permits should be excluded from the timetables being prepared under their jurisdictions. Furthermore, all existing timetables that feature these revoked permits are to be revised accordingly.
Simultaneously, the Madhya Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (M.P.R.T.C.) has communicated with authorities in Faridkot, Bathinda, Barnala, and Budhlada, instructing that buses operating on the affected permits are to be withdrawn without delay.
