 Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema confirmed the decision of filling vacant positions within departments

CHANDIGARH: In a promising development, the Punjab government is set to bolster its workforce by recruiting 16,000 new employees across various government departments. This strategic move aims to accelerate administrative functions and alleviate the burden on existing employees. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema confirmed the decision, emphasizing that past administrations had neglected the crucial task of filling vacant positions within departments, boards, and corporations, resulting in a significant disruption of operations. The government is now committed to initiating a comprehensive recruitment process.

Details of the vacant positions have been formally requested from department heads, signifying the administration's proactive approach towards addressing the workforce deficit. Efforts are underway to swiftly fill these vacancies and provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state. Department heads have received directives to furnish a detailed report on vacancies to the office of the Chief Secretary. Upon receipt of this report, the Chief Secretary's department and the board will convene a joint meeting with top officials from various corporations to streamline the recruitment process.

The Recruitment drive encompasses positions for both Category 3 and Category 4 employees, in addition to officers. The Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-lead government's steadfast pursuit of its employment agenda is evident in its track record of generating 30,000 jobs within the past 18 months. Aiming to surpass this achievement, the administration aims to create an additional 20,000 job opportunities in the coming year. Chief Minister Mann underscored the urgency of providing timely job placements to the state's youth, signaling a robust commitment to eliminating any potential delays.
