Met Dept Issues Alerts for Dense Fog Till December 21 and Rainfall Anticipation Post December 22

Punjab Weather Update: The Day dawned with a cloak of fog enveloping Punjab, marking a meteorological shift that impacted visibility in six districts. As the morning unfolded, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Faridkot, Moga, and Bathinda experienced thick fog, with visibility limited to around 50 meters. The Meteorological Department has responded by issuing an orange alert for dense fog, effective until December 21, and a subsequent yellow alert from December 22 onward. The forecast predicts an increase in fog density during the mornings in the upcoming days.

The prevailing weather conditions in Punjab led to a foggy start to the day, with six districts grappling with reduced visibility. The ongoing fog, coupled with the orange alert, highlights the need for caution and preparedness among residents and commuters.

The Meteorological Department foresees continued cloud cover in Punjab after December 22, coupled with the likelihood of rain in select areas of the state from December 23 onwards. The issuance of alerts comes in anticipation of adverse weather conditions, urging residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

Attributing the change in weather patterns to a Western Disturbance, meteorologists point to fresh snowfall in the mountains contributing to the atmospheric shift. The resulting pressure, influenced by dry frost in the plains, is expected to bring about a drop in temperatures as cold winds sweep through Punjab's cities.

As the state braces for the influence of Western Disturbance, residents can anticipate a temperature dip due to the prevailing cold winds. The convergence of factors, including the influence of dry frost and the ongoing atmospheric changes, emphasizes the need for vigilance in managing the effects of the shifting weather dynamics. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather advisories, exercise caution during low visibility conditions, and be prepared for possible rain after December 23.
