Notice from Punjab Women Commission

The Punjab State Women Commission had earlier issued a 24-hour notice to Channi, demanding a response regarding his alleged derogatory statement made during a campaign in Gidderbaha in support of Congress candidate Amrita Warring. The notice warned that criminal proceedings could be initiated if Channi failed to provide a satisfactory explanation by appearing before the commission on Tuesday.

Political Reactions

Channi’s remarks have drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties.

- AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon condemned the language used by Channi, stating, “He made offensive comments against various communities and women. What surprises me is that Amrita Warring, who stood beside him during the event, did not intervene.”
- BJP leaders have also criticized Channi, labeling his comments as irresponsible and inappropriate.
