Major industrial development is taking place in Mohali, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala.
According to the data released by Invest Punjab, work is being done on a large scale to promote the industry in the state. Not only national but also international companies are showing interest in it. In the past, a big Canadian company, Nebula Group, gave a big boost to the state's investment by encouraging it to invest. While talking to Raman Khatra, president and chairman of the group, the Chief Minister said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that the company has shown keen interest in setting up a food processing plant where tomatoes, lemons, juice, potatoes are grown in around 10,000 hectares. will be collected from the surrounding area which will extend the shelf life of frozen and fresh food products through the use of ozone. He said that the company will increase the shelf life of perishable and fresh products with the help of ozone technology and export them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that association with Markfed and Punjab Agro will be ensured to benefit the farmers on a large scale and the company will set up a plant near Doraha which will also provide jobs to the youth.
Not only Sun Pharma, J.S.W. Stiles, RPG Group and other companies are going to expand their footprint in Punjab soon. Leading tractor manufacturer Sonalika Tractors has also announced an investment of Rs 1,300 crore to set up two new facilities in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, a tractor assembly plant and a high-pressure foundry plant.
Earlier, Tata Steel had announced an investment of Rs 2600 crore in Ludhiana. All the permissions for this steel plant have been issued and now only the construction work of the plant is going on. It is scheduled to be completed by the year 2025.
This will provide direct employment to 500 people. The department has released the Punjab Industrial and Trade Development Policy 2022. Accordingly, in addition to taking the global value chain forward in the state, a target of investment of 5 lakh crore rupees has been set in five years. Under the policy, work is being done to increase the employability of the youth and increase employment opportunities through skills. Under this, work is also being done to develop 15 industrial parks in the state.
