Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Police Recruitment And Drugs Issues: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday held a media briefing after meeting with Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) wherein he shared important steps that his government was taking to fight corruption and drugs in Punjab.
The Chief Minister started by greeting the media and then discussed the arrest of two policemen involved in a drug case, stressing that his administration would not tolerate such behavior. He also mentioned an anti-corruption helpline – 9501200200 – for people to report corruption.
A major change has been made under the Punjab government’s Transfer policy. Over 10,000 police officers, including munshis, thanedaars, and hawaldaars, have been transferred to different divisions. This reshuffle follows Punjab Police rules that require rotation of duties, ensuring a more effective police force.
CM Mann warned that any police officer found involved in drug or alcohol supply will face strict actions, including possible dismissal. He also mentioned that if anyone is caught with drug supplies, their entire property could be seized within a week.
To strengthen the police force, the government will be recruiting new officers for all positions. So far, 315 Station House Officers (SHOs) have received new cars, and more officers will get new cars soon.
In addition, CM Mann also talked about the Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF), in Punjab. He highlighted the SSF's role in ensuring the safety and security of the state and mentioned plans to further support and equip this force.
These efforts show the Aam Aadmi Party’s commitment to keeping Punjab safe and free from corruption. The video of the briefing is available on Bhagwant Mann’s official Facebook account for everyone to watch.
