Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh Appointed New Governor of Haryana Latest News: In a fresh round of gubernatorial appointments, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh has been named the Governor of Haryana, following the approval of a key set of administrative changes by President Droupadi Murmu.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan, in an official communique, confirmed that the President has accepted the resignation of Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) from the position of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Brigadier Mishra had assumed the role in early 2023.
Along with Prof. Ghosh’s appointment in Haryana, two other significant changes were also announced:
- Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, a senior political figure and former Union Minister, has been appointed as the Governor of Goa.
- Kavinder Gupta, a seasoned BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has been named the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, known for his academic contributions and long-standing involvement in higher education policy, will be assuming office in Haryana at a time when the state is gearing up for both administrative reforms and upcoming political developments.

Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh after being appointed as new Governor of Haryana by the President, told PTI "My CV was sent to the top party leadership. After the scrutiny, they recommended my name to the President. My education background, my political background was discussed. Ultimately, the President has appointed me, and I am indebted to the beloved Prime Minister, Amit Shah and other important leaders of the state for recommending me. The President has been kind enough to appoint me, and I shall try my level best to live up to the expectations."
