Four industrial focal points to be undergo facelift at a cost of Rs. 21.84 crore: Sunder Sham Arora

Spokesman News Service, Chandigarh, 16th Oct'18: "In order to bolster the pace of industrial development, Rs. 21.84 crore would be spent on giving facelift to the four industrial focal points in the State." This was disclosed here today by the Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab, Mr. Sunder Sham Arora. The minister further said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is wholeheartedly committed to the industrial development of Punjab.

He also said that Rs. 6.70 crore would be spent on the renovation and facelift of the industrial focal point phase -4 Ludhiana, Rs. 9.57 crore on the renovation and expansion of the industrial focal point Jalandhar, Rs. 3.09 crore on the renovation of the industrial focal point Bathinda and Rs. 2.48 crore on the facelift as well as the development of the industrial focal point Mandi Gobindgarh. Mr. Arora further said that apart from these, a proposal has been forwarded to the MSME New Delhi for the development as well as renovation of 4 more industrial focal points which are likely to cost Rs. 38.28 crore.

He further said that under the proposal, the industrial focal points at Amritsar, Pathankot would be developed at a cost of Rs. 10.39 crore and Rs. 10.14 crore respectively. The industrial focal point Goindwal Sahib phase one and two would see Rs. 9.13 crore being spent on their renovation while the industrial focal point Chanalon would undergo transformation at a cost of Rs. 8.62 crore. Mrs. Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce department, Punjab, said that the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) is undertaking special measures aimed at constructing the newer ones and repairing the older ones.

The Additional Chief Secretary also said that the PSIEC under the industrial infrastructure development upgradation scheme of the Union Government is readying a new industrial park at Nabha for the construction cluster and the park would come up at a cost of Rs. 44.26 crore and would be spread in a total area of 83.81 acres. The Additional Chief Secretary further added that the PSIEC is establishing a hi-tech cycle valley at Dhanansu in Ludhiana which would cover 350 acres area and would cost Rs. 500 crores approximately.
