In a bid to prevent cybercrime threats on a real-time basis, the Punjab police today organized a workshop in collaboration with the NCIIPC..

In a bid to prevent cybercrime threats on a real-time basis, the Punjab police today organized a workshop in collaboration with the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre New Delhi (NCIIPC), here at Punjab police headquarters. Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state police said the first of its kind workshop was organised by IT&T wing to sensitize the senior police officers about vulnerable issues of cybercrime, hacking, cyber threats and auditing.

Apart from this, the cyber experts have also put light on how to conduct information security audits and protect the systems, networks and databases from unauthorized access, unusual malicious activities and cyber incidents. Divulging more, he added that the experts have sensitised the officers about the hacking of systems and networks and how to secure against such attacks. "Lots of questions and queries of the participants were addressed on the spot. They have also created awareness about the pitfalls and vulnerabilities of the critical information infrastructure", he said.

The spokesperson informed that the range IGs, DIGs, SSPs and the commissioners of police have attended this workshop through video conferencing. Similar workshops would be held for district level officers in future, he added. On the occasion, senior police officers, including DGP administration, M.K. Tiwari, DGP provisioning, modernization and IT&T, V.K. Bhawra, all ADGPs, IGPs, director Lokesh Garg, director Navdeep Pal Singh and assistant director Rakesh Kumar (all from NCIIPC) were also present.
