Punjab IMD Weather Forecast Update Latest News Today: The recent snowfall in the mountains has led to a noticeable drop in temperatures across Chandigarh and Punjab. Both maximum and minimum daily temperatures have declined, influenced further by a cyclone originating from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Light rain is expected today in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, and Pathankot. Over the past few days, fog and increasing pollution have engulfed much of Punjab and Chandigarh, leading the Meteorological Center to issue a fog alert across the region.
As a result of the dense fog, no flights will be allowed to land at Amritsar Airport until 8 a.m. today, and schedules for four flights have been adjusted. The Bangkok-bound flight, originally scheduled for 12:30 p.m., will now depart at 3 p.m.
According to the Meteorological Department, foggy conditions are expected to persist in Punjab until November 17, with some relief likely afterward. Meanwhile, air quality remains a concern, with Chandigarh’s Air Quality Index (AQI) consistently above 300, hitting a peak of 500 in Sectors 22 and 52. Amritsar's AQI has also been in the red zone at 300, and Rupnagar recently reached similar levels, indicating widespread air quality issues in the region.
