Punjab Panchayat Elections 2024 Latest News Today, Tarn Taran Sohal San village shooting: In a disturbing turn of events during the ongoing Panchayat elections in Punjab, a bullet was fired outside a polling booth in Sohal San village, Tarn Taran district, injuring one person. The incident took place during a scuffle among voters standing in line to cast their ballots. The injured individual sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and has been rushed to Amritsar Hospital for treatment. 

Authorities have since intensified security measures at the polling booth to prevent further violence.

The incident has raised concerns over election-related tensions in the state, with officials now closely monitoring sensitive areas to ensure a peaceful voting process.

In a separate incident last night, violence broke out in Karmgarh village, Barnala, during a conflict between two groups supporting rival candidates for the post of sarpanch. The clash led to the vandalism of several vehicles, and multiple people were injured. A man named Singh was admitted to the government hospital in Barnala following the altercation.

The election commission has urged all parties to maintain calm and has dispatched additional police personnel to trouble-prone areas to safeguard the integrity of the election.
