CHANDIGARH: Electricity Rates have been hiked in Punjab. The revised prices will be applicable with immediate effect. The orders in this regard have been issued by the Electricity Regulatory Commission. Electricity rates have been increased by 56 paise per unit. In this regard, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also given information on Twitter. 

CM Mann wrote, "The government will bear the cost of the increase in electricity rates. This will not put any burden on the common people. This will not affect even a single meter of the 600 unit scheme."

Notably, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has reacted on the price hike. Taking to Twitter, he wrote sarcastically that after winning the Jalandhar elections, the people of Punjab will get the first gift from the AAP government. Increase in electricity rates. When are you canceling the agreements with the power companies?
