On June 14, 2024, the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission issued the Tariff Orders for FY 2024-25. These comprehensive orders include the true-up of FY 2022-23, the Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR) for FY 2024-25, and the determination of tariffs and charges for FY 2024-25 for both the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and the Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL).

The Commission has decreed that the revised tariffs and charges will be implemented from June 16, 2024, and remain in effect until March 31, 2025. For the period from April 1, 2024, to June 15, 2024, tariffs and charges will adhere to the Tariff Order for FY 2023-24.

The updated tariffs reflect the Commission’s efforts to address the financial requirements and revenue gaps identified in the previous fiscal period. PSPCL had projected a substantial revenue deficit, which led to their request for an increase in tariffs. After rigorous prudence checks, the Commission approved a moderate increase to ensure financial stability while balancing consumer interests. This adjustment aims to meet the operational and maintenance costs of PSPCL and PSTCL, ensuring reliable power supply across the state.
