Chandigarh: The Milkfed, which is one of the most vibrant Cooperative institutions of Punjab, is growing by leaps and bounds and executing various projects pertaining to expansion of its handling capacities despite the present era of Covid-19 pandemic when the whole country is reeling under economic slowdown in the Industry and Service Sector.

This was disclosed this here today by the Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa at the Milkfed premises on the occasion of handing over appointment letter to 27 candidates in the field of Engineering, Information Technology, Marketing and Animal Husbandry against the posts of Assistant Manager.

Elaborating further about the current projects, the Minister added that development and expansion projects worth Rs 254 Crores are under progress at Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mohali and Patiala Dairy.

Apart from this, the State Government and NABARD assisted Mega Dairy Project at Bassi Pathana with total outlay of Rs 138 Crore is under also under progress and is likely to be completed in the month of June, 2021.

Listing the achievements of Milkfed during the financial year 2020-21, Randhawa said that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ghee (CP) and UHT Milk sales registered an increase of 30 percent and 91 percent over and above the corresponding period of last year.

During the month of October, 2020, the Ghee (CP) registerd 44 percent growth, UHT Milk 33 percent, Ice Cream 33 percent and Flavoured Milk 60 percent in comparison to last year. Also during the period of 2020-21, the Milkfed has launched several new products such as Haldi Dudh, Ice Cream flavours Kaju Anjir, Afghan Dry Fruit, Choco Delight under brand Amour, PIO Sweetened flavoured milk in unbreakable pp bottles.

Elaborating more, Randhawa said that apart from this 10 newly recruited Assistant Manager Trainee in the field of Dairy Technology through Campus interview held at GADVASU Ludhiana are likely to join within one month after completing of their course and in near future Milkfed will initiate recruitment process of 540 technical posts.

On the occasion Administrator, Milkfed Punjab and Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Punjab Vikas Garg, and Managing Director, Milkfed Punjab Kamaldeep Singh Sangha were also present.
