BSF intercepts a group of 11 Bangladeshi citizens attempting to illegally cross into Pakistan from the Attari border

AMRITSAR: In a vigilant operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a group of 11 Bangladeshi nationals attempting to illegally cross into Pakistan through the Attari border. The group, which included three women and three children, devised a plan to scale the high wall of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) situated on the Attari border.

These individuals sought to remain inconspicuous, hiding near the ICP while awaiting the opportune moment to cross. Additionally, they received support from a person residing in a nearby border village. The group, lacking both adequate funds and necessary travel documents, harbored aspirations to visit Pakistan.

Their journey commenced when they arrived in Amritsar on a Wednesday and made their way to the Attari border with the intent of witnessing the retreat ceremony. While at the border, they encountered an individual offering assistance at a cost of Rs 25,000 per person. Trusting the offer, they provided the money, and the individual concealed them in bunkers near the defense line around 8 pm.

Around 12:30 pm, under the cover of darkness, the group emerged from the bunkers and proceeded towards the ICP near Rorawala village. Here, they attempted to climb an 11-foot high wall, leading to distress, especially for a pregnant woman who sadly miscarried during the climb. Upon successfully crossing the wall, they sought refuge within the ICP. However, the BSF, acting swiftly, apprehended all of them.

Notably, The BSF is treating this incident as a case of human trafficking, and a thorough investigation is underway to unveil the networks and individuals involved in this illegal operation.
