The Punjab Government on Monday promoted prominent Anti-Gangster expert Bikramjit Singh Brar to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP). Brar, a Punjab Police Service (PPS) officer, has gained national recognition for his role in neutralising several high-profile gangsters, including Jagroop Roopa and Mannu Kusa, the two shooters involved in the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Throughout his career, Brar has been a key figure in major operations, including the neutralisation of notorious criminals like Vicky Gonder, Prema Lahoria, and Ankit Bhadu. As a DSP in the Anti-Gangster Task Force, he led both domestic and overseas operations to arrest dreaded terrorists and smugglers. Notably, he was awarded his fourth President’s Police Medal for Gallantry specifically for the 2022 operation against Moosewala's killers.

Brar carries forward a family legacy of sacrifice; his father, SP Baldev Singh Brar, was martyred during the militancy period in 1988. His distinguished service includes receiving the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry five times (2011, 2020, 2021 twice, and 2024).

He has also earned the Union Home Minister’s Special Operations Medal and the Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak. With 27 DGP Commendation Discs to his credit, Brar's promotion marks a recognition of his consistent efforts in dismantling cross-border weapon and drug smuggling nexuses. His elder brother currently serves as SSP Vigilance, Ludhiana.
