Highest number of farmers suicide is 314 in Mansa 

CHANDIGARH (Bhullar): About 1,806 farmers and farm workers have committed suicide in past 10 years in Punjab. According to a report presented in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, as per  the official data received, from March 2012 to February 28, 2023, 1403 farmers and 403 farm workers have ended their life.

According to the district wise details, the highest number of farmers suicide is 314 in Mansa and 269 in Bathinda district. The highest number of suicides of farm workers was 89 in Mansa district and 70 in Malerkotla. The number of suicides in Jalandhar urban, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar rural, Fatehgarh Sahib is zero.

Among the remaining districts, 12 in Ludhiana Urban, 9 in Amritsar Rural, 8 in Batala Police District, 6 in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur 4, Kapurthala 25, Patiala 2, Sangrur 35, Barnala 9, Ludhiana Rural 82, Khanna 48, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar 2, Ropar 14, S.A.S. Nagar 5, Ferozepur 2, Fazilka 10, Tarn Taran 23, Faridkot 109, Moga 39 and 46 farmers in Sri Muktsar Sahib have so far committed suicide.
