A firing incident was reported in Bagha Purana, Moga, on Friday, allegedly linked to an old rivalry, resulting in the death of Harvinder Singh Happy, Sarpanch of Pato Hira Singh.
According to the information, some unidentified persons travelling in a Fortuner vehicle opened fire at Harvinder Singh Happy. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Reports suggest that the attackers fired around 12 rounds during the incident.
After receiving information about the firing, police officials rushed to the spot and began examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
SSP Moga confirmed that no gangster angle has been found in the case so far. He stated that the incident occurred due to a personal dispute related to an old rivalry and an extra-marital affair. He added that the conflict later escalated into a firing incident.
The police officer also stated that the accused has been identified and will be arrested soon. Meanwhile, the police are actively pursuing the suspects who fled in the vehicle.
