The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar said that the Congress party would hold a large demonstration at Shambu Border

Chandigarh: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar said that the Congress party would hold a large demonstration at Shambu Border on December 14 in the support of the farmers who are agitating against the center’s three farm laws.

Jakhar made this announcement after holding a meeting with the cabinet ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly in Chandigarh.

Sunil JakharSunil JakharState Congress chief said that the workers of the congress party would also participate in the district level protest by the farmers on the same day. He said that this protest demonstration would be organized to raise the voice of the farmers before the ‘insensitive and adamant’ union government.

Jakhar said that this protest would be staged from 11 am to 3 pm and appealed to make protest a success.

He said that the state government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has strongly presented the real picture of the center’s black laws before the people of the state who are now standing with the peasantry and giving wholeheartedly support to their struggle.

"From day one, the congress party stands rock solid with the farmers as it knows if there would be any threat to the peasantry, it would have serious repercussion, socially as well as financially, for the state ", Jakhar said.

He said that these black farm laws would prove just as detrimental for the country’s economy as demonetization.

Jakhar urged the union government to leave its arrogant behaviour and must accept the demands of the farmers. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should immediately listen to the struggling farmers and respect the demands of the farmers and repeal the three black laws.

Prominent among present occasion included cabinet ministers Manpreet Singh Badal, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, MLAs Tarsem Singh DC, Navtej Singh Cheema, Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Hardev Singh Ladi, Indu Bala, Dr Raj Kumar, Gurkirat Singh, Amreek Singh, Lakhvir Singh Lakha, Parminder Singh Pinki, Satkar Kaur, Davinder Singh Ghubaya, Madan Lal Jalalpur, Rajinder Singh, Nirmal Singh Shutrana, Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, Rajinder Beri, Sunil Dutti, Pawan Adia, Angad Saini, Hardial Singh Kamboj, Punjab Youth Congress Chief Barinder Singh Dhillon and Women wing head Mamta Dutta.
