Torrential Rains Wreak Havoc in Punjab & Himachal Pradesh; Union Home Minister Assures Aid

CHANDIGARH: The relentless downpour in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh has unleashed chaos, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Several districts in both states are grappling with knee-deep water, submerged vehicles, collapsed homes, and displaced residents, as heavy rains continue to pound the regions.

In a bid to address the crisis, Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally reached out to the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, gathering crucial information about the flood situation. Shah assured them of all possible assistance to combat the dire consequences of the calamity.

One of the gravest incidents occurred along the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway 3, where a section of the road was washed away by the swift current of the Beas river in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. The destructive force of the floodwaters also caused the iconic red bridge of Pandoh in Mandi district to collapse, exacerbating the already devastating situation.

In Punjab, numerous districts have been severely impacted, witnessing knee-deep water levels that have rendered many areas virtually inaccessible. Tragically, vehicles have been swept away, houses have crumbled, and scores of people have been left homeless in the wake of the deluge.

The Home Minister's prompt response and assurance of aid have offered a glimmer of hope to the affected regions. The central government stands united with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in their battle against the ravages of nature, pledging all necessary resources to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Authorities are working tirelessly to evacuate stranded residents, provide shelter, and restore essential services in the flood-affected areas. The state governments have also activated emergency response teams to conduct rescue operations, distribute relief materials, and assess the extent of the damage caused by the relentless rainfall. As the situation remains critical, citizens are urged to stay vigilant, follow the instructions of local authorities, and prioritize their safety. The inclement weather and associated risks demand utmost caution, and individuals are advised to refrain from venturing out unnecessarily. Efforts are underway to restore normalcy and provide much-needed aid to those affected by this natural disaster.
