Chandigarh (Spokesman News Service), 9th Oct'18Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday condoled the death of veteran journalist and former president of Chandigarh Press Club, Akhil Gautam (70), who passed away in Delhi after a prolonged illness. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister described Akhil Gautam as an outstanding journalist, who was always at the forefront of championing the cause of freedom of the press. His distinguished services in establishing Chandigarh Press Club would be always remembered by the media, said Captain Amarinder.

The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives and friends in this hour of grief. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Raveen Thukral also mourned the passing away of Akhil Gautam, saying his death had left a void in the journalistic fraternity, which would be difficult to fill. Akhil Gautam is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
