BANGALORE: A total of Rs 375 crore has been seized in Karnataka since the implementation of the Model Election Code on March 29. The Election Commission shared this information. The Election Commission said that this seizure in Karnataka has increased by 4.5 times compared to the 2018 assembly elections. It said that seizures of Rs 375 crore have been recorded so far as against Rs 83.93 crore in 2018.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka said that the total seizure (Rs 375.6 crore) includes cash (Rs 147 crore), liquor (Rs 84 crore), gold and silver (Rs 97 crore), free gifts (Rs 24 crore) and drugs ( 24 crores). He said that 2,896 FIRs related to this seizure have been registered.

It is worth mentioning here that a total of Rs 58 crore was seized before the announcement of assembly elections in Karnataka on May 10 (in the period from March 9 to March 27). Voting will be held in the state on May 10. Karnataka election results will be out on May 13.
