Over 50,000 youth receive government jobs within 32 months of the government’s formation
Chandigarh: The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is making remarkable strides in creating employment opportunities for the youth through its ambitious Mission Employment initiative. In just 32 months since the formation of the government, more than 50,000 youth have been provided with government jobs.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has assured that, in addition to creating new job opportunities, the government is also exploring ways to accommodate youth who have exceeded the age limit while struggling for employment. The recruitment process has been conducted transparently and efficiently, with all departmental vacancies being filled simultaneously. This fair process has ensured that none of the 50,000 appointments have faced legal challenges.
New IT Policy to Revolutionize Employment
The Punjab government is also preparing to introduce a new Information Technology (IT) Policy, which is expected to spark an IT revolution in the state. This policy aims to create approximately 55,000 job opportunities for IT professionals. Numerous IT companies have expressed interest in setting up operations in Punjab, particularly in Mohali.
Agniveers to Benefit from Job Proposals
In another significant step, the government is committed to providing job opportunities to Agniveers retiring from the armed forces. The first batch of approximately 800 Agniveers is expected to retire in 2027. As they will not qualify for traditional ex-servicemen benefits, Chief Minister Mann has directed that proposals be prepared to ensure they are gainfully employed after their service tenure.
Empowering Girls Through Free Coaching
To promote gender equality and empower young women, the Punjab government has launched initiatives under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme. Free coaching is being provided to girls preparing for competitive exams for government jobs, ensuring they have equal opportunities to build successful careers.
Through these initiatives, the Punjab government continues to set new benchmarks in youth welfare and employment, fostering a brighter and more inclusive future for the state's youth.
