Arvinderjit Singh, an international kabaddi player, was shot dead by a policeman at Lakhan ke Padde village in Kapurthala late last night

Kapurthala: Arvinderjit Singh, an international kabaddi player, was shot dead by a policeman at Lakhan ke Padde village in Kapurthala late last night while his associate got injured in this incident.

File PhotoFile PhotoThe injured Kabaddi player's companion Pradeep Singh told police that he and his fellow Kabaddi player Arvinderjit Singh and other friends were going in the vehicle after 9.30 pm last night.

On the way, he had a minor altercation with Paramjit Singh, son of Virsa Singh, a resident of Bamuval. The man was an ASI and started firing at Arvinderjit Singh and his companion in which Arvinderjit Singh was killed and his companion Pradeep Singh was injured.

PhotoPhotoSubhanpur police have registered a case of murder against ASI Paramjit Singh and his accomplice Mangu on the statements of the injured person and had arrested them both.

It is said that the accused was posted as ASI at Dhillwan police station. The police have registered a case and initiated further action.
