A government school in Banur poses challenge to private schools, increases enrollment

SAS Nagar,  April 07, 2019: How the sincerity  and dedication of teachers in implementing the " Each One, Bring One"  is vital  for bringing in a positive change in public perception about government schools, could be gauged from extension and augmentation of infrastructural facilities as well as enhancement enrollment at Government Senior Secondary School, Banur. It is worthwhile to mention here that  the  education department has launched " Each One, Bring One" drive in December last year. Since then, the Secretary School Education has relentlessly been mobilising the officials of the education department and teachers to make the public aware about the changing scenario of government schools.

He exhorted the teachers to vigourously publicise the excellent work being done for development of infrastructure facilities as well as quality improvement in classroom teaching under " Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab" to mobilise community support for converting " Each One, Bring One" drive into virtual mass movement. "Taking inspiration from the consistent motivation, the school staff started concerted and consistent efforts for sprucing up infrastructural facilities by mobilising active support from an NGO, which has so far contributed funds to the tune of Rs. 5 lakh for providing benches, mats, RO System, Sound System etc.to the school.

"In the very first week of the commencement of new academic session, the school has crossed the strength of students of previous year. Last year, the total strength of students was 533 and now the school has as many as 546 students on its roll in different classes. The encouraging  fact is that most of the new admissions are from the nearby private schools", said the visibly elated Principal Anita while exuding confidence that the school would likely to witness more than 30 per cent increase in admission in the coming days.

Each One, Bring One

Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, while lauding the efforts of the School Principal and staff of the Government Senior Secondary School, Banur, said that it had come to his notice that the government school teachers across the state had been emerging as harbingers of the change in the public perception about government schools and the  enrollment drive : " Each One, Bring One"  would likely to  yield encouraging results.
