Punjab and Delhi's tableaux were rejected for the Republic Day 2024 parade, scheduled to be held in Delhi.

Punjab Republic Day 2024 Parade venue news: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday announced the venue for the state's Republic Day Parade 2024. He took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to make the announcement. 

"Punjab's Republic Day 2024 parade will be held in PAU ground, Ludhiana on 26th January. We have just made a new synthetic track in the Ludhiana stadium. We do not want the parade to cause any harm to it. There will be no parade in a ground with a synthetic track in any part of Punjab," Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said in a tweet. 

It is pertinent to mention that Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann recently made claims of discrimination over the rejection of the state's tableau to be displayed in the 2024 Republic Day parade in Delhi. However, the Defence Ministry called CM Bhagwant Mann's claims of discrimination "baseless". 

Notably, Punjab and Delhi's tableaux were rejected for the Republic Day 2024 parade, scheduled to be held in Delhi. Both the states had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre wherein the states agreed to display those in the Republic Day 2024 parade in one of the three years starting January 26, 2024, Defence Ministry sources stated.

Earlier, the tableaux of Punjab and Delhi were last displayed in 2022 and 2021. As per sources, the states that were not selected for the Republic Day 2022 Parade have been invited to showcase their tableaux in Bharat Parv at Red Fort in Delhi between January 23 and 31. 

Calling the allegation of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann "unfounded", the Defence Ministry sources added that there was a well-established system for the selection of tableaux for participation in the Republic Day 2024 Parade in Delhi. 

In the meanwhile, there were allegations that the non-BJP states were being singled out.
