Vigilance Authorities Have Identified Land Purchases in 54 Locations
SANGRUR: Startling revelations have emerged regarding the actions of Patwari Balkar Singh, who served in the Khanauri constituency of Sangrur, Punjab. Investigations into a fraud case involving Sudarshan Roy have shed light on Balkar Singh's acquisition of 55 acres of land across 54 different locations during his 21-year tenure. These transactions are believed to have been carried out through corrupt means in various areas.
Dhindsa village in Sangrur witnessed the highest volume of land purchases by Balkar Singh. Additional acquisitions were made in Bhutal Kalan, Jalur, Gujran, Balran, Kalipur, Hamirgarh, Makorh Sahib, Rodewal, Ghorenab, and Bhutal Khurd. Vigilance authorities have identified land purchases in 54 locations, with the possibility of more yet to be discovered.
Notably, Balkar Singh's alleged involvement in corruption came to light during the investigation of a fraud case involving Sudarshan Roy, a resident of Khanauri. Sudarshan Roy owned 14 Kanals and 11 Marlas of land in Khanauri, some of which was acquired by the government to widen the Ghaggar river. The remaining 11 kanals and 19 marles of land were located within Khanauri city.
It is alleged that Deepak Raj, Patwari Balkar Singh, Darshan Singh Field Kanungo, and Tehsildar Munak Vipan Bhandari colluded to wrongfully claim Sudarshan Roy's land. This elaborate scheme unfolded in 2018 when a fabricated will was used to transfer the land into Deepak Raj's name, accompanied by false statements from the entire family. Sudarshan's complaint triggered an investigation, ultimately exposing the extent of Patwari Balkar Singh's alleged wrongdoing.
This revelation has sparked outrage and demands for a thorough investigation into Balkar Singh's land acquisitions across multiple locations. The authorities are expected to take swift action to address the corruption allegations and ensure justice prevails.
