Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and MP Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday termed Chief Minister Amarinder Singh as a great dramatist, saying that he was, instead of going to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issues of black laws, heading to Rajghat for enacting another drama in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue to mislead the people of Punjab, especially the farmers, saying it was a well thought-out ploy to derail the peasant struggle.

In a statement issued from party headquarters on Tuesday, Bhagwant Mann said, "The million-dollar question here is why Capt Amarinder Singh is seeking an audience with the President of the country over the contentious laws, while all know that the decision to withdraw the black laws and guarantee of procurement of all crops at the MSP, including wheat and paddy, is in the hands of the Prime Minister. He is simply trying to fool the people by resorting to such cheap gimmicks hoodwink the farmers with ulterior motive of misleading them"

Mann further said, "First of all he smartly played his card by convening a special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, and passed three Bills purportedly to negate the central marketing laws already passed by parliament. Then pretending to seek an audience from the President even as the Bills had not been accorded by the Governor of Punjab, followed by dashing off a letter to BJP national President JP Nadda over the freight trains issue and now all set to head to Rajghat when the President refused to meet, enacting another drama.

The AAP MP said that if the Punjab Assembly had passed its own laws to ensure  guarantee over government procurement at the MSPs instead of going the whole hog to amending the black farm law pushed by the Modi government at the centre, there would have been no constitutional impediment to negating the central marketing laws.

Mann said that, instead of weakening the peasant struggle and misleading them by lying, the Chief Minister should meet PM Narendra Modi to ensure the guarantee on government procurement at MSP by reversing the black laws enacted by the union government, saying if the Captain government could not do so, he (CM) should step down as chief minister.
