A couple seeking protection from the Punjab and Haryana High Court after tying the knot against family wishes will end up paying

Chandigarh: A couple seeking protection from the Punjab and Haryana High Court after tying the knot against family wishes will end up paying Rs 10,000 fine for not wearing masks during the wedding ceremony.

The fine was imposed by Justice Hari Pal Verma after it was found from the photographs of marriage attached by the couple that they were not wearing masks.

Punjab & Haryana High CourtPunjab & Haryana High CourtThe petitioners are burdened with Rs 10,000 as costs to be deposited with Hoshiarpur DC within a period of 15 days from Tuesday. The amount so deposited will be utilised for the purpose of providing masks for people in Hoshiarpur,” the bench ordered.

Justice Verma also said that the fine amount should be used to provide masks to the people in Hoshiarpur district. The petitioners had contended that they were major and had solemnised their marriage in accordance with law.

PhotoPhotoBut relatives do not agree. Not only this, they are also trying to separate them illegally. Following this, the bench directed the SSP to take necessary steps to protect their life and property.
