PGIMER’s Peerless & Fearless team reiterates its commitment to win war of Covid-19

This time of turmoil and crisis of Covid-19 has proved that the real heroes in this fight are the health care workers.

Chandigarh: “This time of turmoil and crisis of Covid-19 has proved that the real heroes in this fight are the health care workers. They are stretching way beyond to save the patients and give them another lease of life. Probably, I will never be able to truly put it into words just how grateful I am to the Covid-19 team of PGIMER, who have literally saved me otherwise I would have gone forever.”

CoronavirusCoronavirusThese are the sentiments expressed by a resident of Sector 30, who was discharged today at PGIMER after his successful recovery. Echoing the same feelings was another resident of Dhanas who was also declared cured and discharged today. With the discharge of these two persons today, PGIMER’s Covid Hospital has to its credit the successful recovery of 15 persons of Covid-19.

Commemorating their victory over Covid-19, PGIMER team led by Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, and comprising Prof. G.D.Puri, Dean (Academics) & Head, Deptt. of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, PGIMER, Prof. Arun Aggarwal, Deptt. of Community Medicine, Prof. Pankaj Malhotra, Deptt. of Internal Medicine and other senior faculty members, senior medics and paramedics were present, outside the Nehru Extension Block, dedicated Covid Hospital, applauding them and wishing them good health with flowers and greetings as they headed towards their homes in high spirits to re-unite with their families. 

PGIPGISpeaking on the occasion, Prof.Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER said, “Beside a surge in the Covid-19 cases in the last few days and challenge mounting with every passing day, PGIMER’s peerless and fearless team is diligently working round the clock to cure all the patients and send them off fully recovered. That is our commitment, our moral responsibility. But it is extremely gratifying when the persons who are discharged also acknowledge the tireless efforts of the health care workers and express gratitude. This definitely inspires us to go on with greater vigour.”

Prof. G.D. Puri, Dean (Academics) & Head, Deptt. of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, PGIMER, while detailing about the recovery of these latest discharged persons, shared,  “One of the persons, 56 years old resident of Dhanas, admitted on 17th April in PGIMER’s Covid Hospital, though had complications pertaining to Covid-19, but responded well to the treatment and remained stable throughout. Finally, with two consecutive  tests coming negative, a pre-condition to declare cured for all Covid-19 patients, he was discharged.”

CoronavirusCoronavirus “However, the other person, the 59 year old resident of Sector 30, was discharged after 20 days’ stay at NHE of PGIMER. He was admitted to Covid ICU in critical condition along with his wife. He has fully recovered and was very happy with the treatment he received at Covid Block. He thanked all the doctors and staff for the hard work they had put in for his recovery,” added Prof. Puri.

Though discharged from PGIMER, the cured patients will be home quarantined and monitored for 14 days as per the standard protocol to be followed by all Covid-19 patients.
