Investigation Underway: Chandigarh Police Probing Taxi Driver's Murder as Community Mourns

CHANDIGARH: In a shocking incident, a taxi driver was found dead near Mullanpur Medicity in Chandigarh. The victim, identified as Dharampal, a 15-year veteran taxi driver in the city, was originally from Jhunjhanu, Rajasthan, and had been residing in Zirakpur with his sister.

The gruesome discovery was made when the deceased's lifeless body was found near Mullanpur Medicity. The police, suspecting foul play, are treating the case as a homicide. The taxi driver had reportedly picked up a ride from the bus stand in Sector-43 before the tragic incident occurred.

As the investigation unfolds, the police have ruled out robbery as a motive, as the taxi driver's vehicle was found abandoned near his body. The police are currently on the hunt for an unidentified assailant who remains at large. Upon discovering the crime scene, the police swiftly took possession of the body and transferred it to the mortuary at PGI Chandigarh for further examination. A case has been registered against the unknown assailant to initiate the legal process.

Satinder Singh, the in-charge of Mullanpur police station, has indicated that this tragic event could potentially be the result of a dispute between the taxi driver and the passengers he had picked up. However, the exact circumstances leading to the driver's death are yet to be revealed as the police continue their investigation.
