Delhi MCD Bypoll Results 2025: Full List of Winners – BJP, AAP, Congress, AIFB
On December 3, the results of the 2025 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bypolls in 12 wards were announced. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest winner, securing seven of the contested seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured three wards, while the Indian National Congress (Congress) and the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) each won one seat.
The bypolls were held on November 30 in 12 wards, out of which nine were previously under BJP control and the remaining three were in AAP control. The State Election Commission of Delhi oversaw the process and established ten counting centres at Kanjhawala, Pitampura, Bharat Nagar, Civil Lines, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Najafgarh, Gole Market, Pushp Vihar, and Mandawali.
BJP’s victories include:
Anita Jain-Shalimar Bagh B (previously held by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta)
Manisha Devi - Dwarka B
Sarla Choudhry-Vinod Nagar
Veena Asija – Vinod Nagar
Anjum Mandal – Greater Kailash
Rekha Rani - Dichaon Kalan
Suman Kumar Gupta – Chandni Chowk.
AAP candidates Ram Swaroop Kanojia, Anil, and Rajan Arora won Dakhshin Puri, Mundka, and Naraina, respectively. Congress secured Sangam Vihar through Suresh Choudhry, and AIFB’s Mohd. Imran triumphed in Chandani Mahal.
There were major security measures for the counting process. Nearly 1,800 Delhi Police personnel and ten paramilitary companies were deployed, with 700 staff assigned to the counting centres. The strong rooms holding the EVMs were monitored by round-the-clock CCTV surveillance to ensure transparency and safety.
Voter turnout was notably low at 38.51 per cent as compared to 50.47 per cent in the 2022 MCD elections for 250 wards. Analysts suggest that this decline could reflect typical voter fatigue or reduced public engagement in bypolls.
The bypoll results reaffirm BJP’s dominance in Delhi’s municipal landscape while indicating some support for AAP and other parties like Congress and AIFB. These outcomes provide insight into local voter sentiment ahead of future municipal and broader elections, emphasising the continuing role of civic politics in shaping Delhi’s governance.
