Avadh Ojha Announces Exit from Politics After 2024 Loss; AAP Leader Says ‘Not Done’

Celebrity teacher Avadh Ojha, who is popularly known for his UPSC-related motivational content, has announced his retirement from politics only ten months after contesting the Lok Sabha elections on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket from Allahabad.

According to Ojha, he wanted to step back from public life and return to his teaching profession, which he described as his core mission. His statement came through a social media post, where he expressed gratitude to supporters but gave clarification that electoral politics was not something he wished to continue.

His decision immediately drew reactions from AAP members. AAP’s Prayagraj district president, Abhinav Rai, gave his sharp response, saying Ojha’s announcement was “not done.” Rai argued that politics demands long-term commitment, and merely contesting an election does not justify stepping away very quickly. He also added that the party had supported Ojha during the campaign and that such sudden withdrawals give a wrong impression to voters and volunteers.

Ojha had joined AAP ahead of the 2024 general election and had fought elections from the Allahabad constituency, where he lost the elections. His candidacy had drawn significant attention due to his large student following and strong digital presence.

Ojha emphasised in his message that he would now be guiding youth academically and professionally, which he described as more meaningful to him. His exit highlights the hardships public personalities go through when transitioning into politics, where popularity alone does not guarantee alignment with the demands of electoral life.

This development captures a realistic picture of the gap between social influence and political endurance and the expectations political parties hold for candidates once they step into the field.
