Telangana: Nine killed, two hurt in collision of two cars

Hyderabad: Two cars collided in Wanaparthy district of Telangana today, leaving nine persons, including three women, dead and two others injured, police said.  

The accident took place in Kothakota mandal, around 150 km from here in the district, around 8 am, they said. Four of the deceased were members of the same family hailing from Hyderabad, police said.

The incident occurred when the driver of a car headed to Kurnool lost control over the vehicle, which hit a road divider and landed on the other side of the road where it collided with a car headed to Hyderabad, a Kothakota police station official told PTI over phone.  

A total of 11 persons were travelling in both the cars. "Seven persons died on the spot while two of the four injured succumbed to injuries in a nearby state-run hospital," the official said.

The deceased and the injured belonged to Hyderabad and Wanaparthy. The deceased included one Suri Babu (aged around 52) and three members of his family, the official said, adding that they were on their way to Hyderabad after attending a marriage in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.  


The deceased were in the age group of 25 to 60 years. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and further investigation is on. PTI
