
Hyderabad: An auto-rickshaw driver, was
today arrested from here on charge of cyber stalking a woman,
police said.
The accused D Vinod (24), was arrested by Cyber Cell
for harassing a woman, by creating a WhatsApp and Facebook
profile with her pictures and posting abusive comments, a
release from Rachakonda Police Commissionerate said.
The victim, aged around 20, is a degree student and
had friendship with Vinod. Later their friendship turned into
love. Due to her family issues, she started avoiding him. On
which he started harassing her and created a WhatsApp group,
forwarded her voice recorded audio with message stating that
she is loving him, they said.
"Later he started black mailing her by stating that if
she doesn t love him, he will upload her obscene pictures on
social media," police said.
"A few days later the accused called victim's brother
and spoke negatively about her character," they said.
Vinod also went to the college hostel where she was
staying and snatched her phone without her permission and
copied her photos and edited them and uploaded those edited
pictures on Facebook without her permission, the police said.
The accused took her relatives phone numbers from her
mobile and started calling them and had been defaming her
character, police added.
According to police, following a complaint a case
under 354 (D) (stalking) and other relevant sections of the
Indian Penal Code and IT Act was registered. PTI
