New Delhi: Three alleged gun runners were arrested near the Commonwealth Village on
the NH-24 and 21 sophisticated country-made pistols were seized from
them, police said today.
The accused were apprehended while
trying to deliver the illegal arms to a local criminal last Saturday, P S
Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell), said.
Acting on a tip-off, a
dedicated team of the Special Cell working against illegal arms supplier
laid a trap near the Commonwealth village link road and arrested three
men from there, he said.
A search of the trio was conducted and
21 illegal sophisticated pistols were seized from them in Barwani
district of Madhya Pradesh, he said.
An interrogation of the accused revealed that the gang was active in smuggling of illegal arms since 2012, Kushwah said.
A
case under the Arms Act provision has been registered at the Special
Cell police station and further investigation is on, he added.
