A 21-year-old youth has been arrested for attempting to rape a woman in Chapar area of the district, police said here today. Govind Kumar was arrested last evening and a case has been registered against him, they said. According to a complaint lodged by the 21 year-old-woman, the accused barged into her house yesterday and tried to rape her. But she resisted his attempt and the accused fled after threatening her of dire consequences. At the time of the incident, the victim was alone as her parents had gone into the fields to work, police said.
