Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the directive.
Doda District Magistrate Harvinder Singh, speaking to ANI, said, “We have issued an order prohibiting people from going near the water bodies. It is the summer season, and people often enter water bodies for adventure activities. We will also take legal action against those who fail to comply with the order.”
He also issued a warning to parents, stating that they will be held accountable if their children are found near any water body.
“Another appeal to the public is to ensure their children stay away from water bodies. We will take action against parents if their children are found near them.”
Although the Chenab River has not yet reached the danger mark, authorities have cautioned that the water level could rise by 2 to 3 meters if water is released from the dam.
