DRDO Conducts Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile Tests Latest News: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the test of the Agni-Prime missile on Wednesday night at the Integrated Test Range in Balasore, Odisha.
According to officials, the test met all objectives. The trial has been termed unique as it was carried out from a specially designed rail-based mobile launcher — a capability that only a few nations currently possess.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a post on X, said, “India has carried out the successful launch of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a rail-based mobile launcher system. This next-generation missile is designed to cover a range of up to 2,000 km and is equipped with various advanced features.”
The minister also shared a video and an image from the launch site. “The first-of-its-kind launch carried out from a specially designed rail-based mobile launcher has the capability to move on the rail network without any pre-conditions, allowing users cross-country mobility and the ability to launch within a short reaction time with reduced visibility,” he added.
