Suryakanta Vyas Death Today News: Former MLA Suryakanta Vyas, who served as the MLA from Sursagar three times and held the distinction of being the oldest member of the Rajasthan Assembly for many years, passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 86. Vyas was elected to the Assembly a total of six times. Before contesting the 2008 elections in Sursagar, she had been elected three times from the old Jodhpur seat.
She was not given a ticket for the 2024 elections. During that time, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also visited her, which sparked considerable discussion.
Suryakanta Vyas was a dedicated BJP worker who was highly respected by the public. Known for her active involvement in the joys and sorrows of the people, news of her passing left many in disbelief.
Ashok Gehlot Considered Her an Elder Sister
Although 86 years old, Suryakanta's dedication to serving the people never waned. Affectionately called "Jiji" by members across political parties, she was held in high regard. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also saw her as his elder sister. City MLA Atul Bhansali shared the news of her passing through a voice message this morning.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed his condolences on Vyas's passing. On his 'X' (formerly Twitter) handle, he wrote: "Received the sad news of the demise of former MLA from Sursagar Assembly and senior member of the BJP family, Mrs. Suryakanta Vyas 'Jiji.' I had the privilege of meeting her a few days ago and receiving her blessings and guidance. Her immense love and affection towards me will always remain in my heart." He added, "Her demise is an irreparable loss for the Bharatiya Janata Party family. My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to the Lord to grant the departed soul a place at His feet and give the family the strength to endure this great loss."
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie also expressed his grief on 'X', writing: "I have received the sad news of the passing of Smt. Suryakanta Vyas Ji (Jiji), former MLA of Sursagar, Jodhpur. May God grant her soul a place at His feet. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones during this time of sorrow."
