An elephant trampled to death two persons at Gaerkata tea garden at Dhupguri in Alipurduar district, the police said today. The incident happened when a herd of elephants was going to Marahat forest through the tea garden and one pachyderm killed a man and a woman yesterday. As others raised an alarm and many people rushed to the spot, the elephants hurriedly entered the forest. While the man was identified as a tea garden worker, the identity of the woman yet to be ascertained, the police said.
