The development came after the Rajya Sabha passed the bill on 21st August, which is on the last day of the monsoon session, and the Lok Sabha had passed the same the day earlier, citing rising concerns over addiction, financial losses, and deceptive practices.

The Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said over Rs 20,000 crore has been lost in online money gaming and that the issue has become equivalent to that of drugs.

After the president’s ascent, the bill will outlaw online money gaming in the country.
