3 Dead, More than 20 Missing as Boat Capsizes in River Ganga

Several People have been admitted to the hospital in Serious Condition

BALLIA: A Boat Carrying about 40 people capsized in the Ganga river. As per the reports, 3 people died and two dozen people are feared to be missing. The drowning people are being pulled out with the help of local people. Several people have been admitted to the hospital in serious condition. A 9:15 am on Monday morning, the boat carrying 40 people who were going to participate in Mundan at Maldepur Ganga Ghat capsized in the Ganga river. 

The Boat carrying passengers reached a short distance from the ghat and suddenly the boat overturned due to overloading. Seeing the boat sinking, chaos erupted in the area. The security personnel and local sailors showed promptness and rescued the drowning people from the boat. The bodies of two women have been recovered. The search for the rest is on. The police administration is engaged in rescue operations with the help of the villagers.

Notably, Huge crowd have been witnessed at Maldepur Sangamghat in Ballia due to the religious days. With the aim of earning more, the sailors fill their boats by more than capacity people which becomes the main cause of accidents.
