Delhi Police Registers FIR Against Rahul Gandhi Over Parliament Scuffle

BJP’s complaint details allegations that Gandhi violated security instructions.

Delhi Police Files FIR Against Rahul Gandhi on Parliament Controversy Latest News: The Delhi Police has filed an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with a scuffle in Parliament following a complaint by the BJP. The charges include sections related to causing grievous hurt, endangering life, and criminal intimidation.

The FIR, registered at the Parliament Street Police Station, excludes Section 109 (attempt to murder), which was mentioned in the BJP's original complaint. BJP leaders, including Anurag Thakur, Bansuri Swaraj, and Hemang Joshi, alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s actions during a protest outside Parliament’s Makar Gate led to injuries to two BJP MPs, who required hospitalization.

“Rahul Gandhi’s arrogance makes him believe he is above the law,” Thakur told reporters. He accused the Congress leader of inciting INDIA bloc members to act aggressively, putting the safety of protesting MPs at risk.

The BJP’s complaint details allegations that Gandhi violated security instructions, pushed a fellow MP, and instigated others to proceed forcefully toward NDA members. The incident allegedly jeopardized the safety of the demonstrators and constituted criminal assault.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders also lodged a complaint against BJP MPs, accusing them of misbehaving with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh called the BJP’s actions a diversionary tactic, alleging they were intended to distract from controversial remarks made about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The scuffle left BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi injured. Sarangi alleged that Gandhi pushed another MP, who then fell on him, causing a head injury. “Rahul Gandhi’s behavior was unacceptable and put the safety of other MPs at risk,” Sarangi stated before being taken for medical treatment.

The confrontation has deepened tensions between the NDA and INDIA bloc as protests and counter-complaints continue to dominate the political landscape.
