Landmark Decision to Grant One-Third Reservation to Women in Parliament & Legislative Assemblies

NEW-DELHI: In a Momentous Move, the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Bill' aimed at providing one-third reservation to women in the Lower House of Parliament, Legislative Assemblies, and Delhi, has been lauded as a historic decision by Union ministers and leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Emphasizing the transformative impact of this legislation, they asserted that it will ensure women's rights are upheld, bringing about a significant positive shift in society.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his appreciation for the bill, stating, "The 'Nari Shakti Vandan Act' introduced in the Lok Sabha today is a decision that will give our women their rights in the true sense." He commended Prime Minister Modi, highlighting that 'Women-led' is more than just a slogan for the government but a fundamental concept. Describing it as a 'historic decision', Shah extended gratitude to Prime Minister Modi.

Responding to criticisms labeling the bill as mere rhetoric, Shah countered opposition parties, affirming that the move is being celebrated nationwide, illustrating the Modi government's steadfast commitment to women's empowerment.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the significance of this day in India's parliamentary democracy. He noted that the introduction of the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Act' by Prime Minister Modi coincided with the consecration of the new Parliament building, symbolizing a profound new beginning and a monumental leap in gender equality.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari hailed the 'Nari Shakti Vandan' Bill as a historic milestone in the country's democratic journey. He emphasized that this legislation will ensure that women across the nation have their rights acknowledged and respected, echoing that women's empowerment is not merely an idea for the Modi government, but a deeply ingrained principle.
