 From 'langar', 'fazli' and 'laxmanbhog' to 'Mallika', 'Amrapali' and the golden-hued 'him sugar', a wide range of varieties of mangoes are up for grabs at the ongoing Bengal Mango Mela here. Organised by the Government of West Bengal, the sixth edition of the annual Mela that began on June 16, is celebrating the king of fruits in all its hues and flavors. "Himsagar is the most extraordinary mango and is famous for its complete absence of fiber and unparalleled sweetness," one of the sellers at the event at Handloom Haat in Janpath, said.  Bengal Mango MelaBengal Mango Mela A slice of each variety of the fruit is being given out to customers for sampling, allowing them to choose their favorite variant. 
Fresh mango produces -- pickle, kasundi, jams, squash, and chutney-- can be picked up from the stall put up by the Department of Agricultural Marketing at nominal prices. To offer a wholesome Bengali experience, there is a 'mithai corner' with quintessential Bengali sweet treats like Sandesh, rasgullas and mishti doi on offer, as well as shops selling traditional handicrafts from the eastern state. ?Himsagar mango Himsagar mangoFrom 'Pathachitras', hand painted wall hangings and vases, to jewelry made out of coconut shells, beetle nuts, and even paddy husk, as well as jute dolls and bags, and embroidered umbrellas, there is everything one could ask for. The event will come to a close on June 30.
