They accused him of harassing women and told him that they would be taking him to a police station. However, they took him to a public toilet in Kalyanpuri where they thrashed him and took the money his father had given him, the police said. They later dropped him at Kondli Pul from where he informed the police. Police identified the accused as Idrish and Jai Prakash. They were identified with the help of a watchman of the public toilet where the accused had taken the victim.

Idrish was posted as a constable in Shahdara district while Prakash is associated with the police's citizen volunteer programme, Police Mitra. Idrish had earlier also faced departmental action.
