Eight-Year Legal Battle Concludes as Sonbhadra MP-MLA Court Pronounces Verdict, Victim to Receive Entire Fine Amount
BJP MLA Ramdular Gond News: In a landmark judgment, Ramdular Gond, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA representing the Dudhi seat in Sonbhadar, Uttar Pradesh, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined Rs 10 lakh for the rape of a minor girl. The MP-MLA Court of Sonbhadra, after an exhaustive eight-year trial, delivered the verdict, ordering the complete fine amount to be paid to the victim.
The judgment came after an extended legal battle that originated from a case registered at Mayerpur police station in November 2014. The court's decision was announced by Judge Ahsanullah Khan, who found Ramdular Gond guilty of raping a minor girl. The severity of the sentence, coupled with the substantial fine, marks a significant development in the case that spanned nearly a decade.
The victim's brother expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, highlighting the nine-year struggle for justice. During an interview following the hearing, he conveyed his happiness and stated that after years of perseverance, justice has finally been served. Notably, the case was initiated based on the victim's brother's complaint, leading to the registration of the rape case against Ramdular Gond.
The verdict, delivered on Thursday, follows the earlier declaration of guilt on December 12 by the MP-MLA Court. Subsequent to the hearing on Tuesday, Judge Ahsanullah Khan fixed December 15 as the sentencing date. In response to the court's decision, the MLA's lawyer has expressed intentions to challenge the judgment in the High Court.
