3 out of 13 akharas at Mahakumbh 2025 belongs to Sikhism latest news: In the Mahakumbh 2025 at Prayagraj, Nagar kirtan followed by gatka performance and gurbani kirtan organised on January 11, noting one's presence of Nirmala Akhara, one of the Sikh related akhara out of three are part of the world largest religious meet. Several Sikh followers visit the Sikh akharas and take holy dips at Sangam, As stated by Nirmala akhara followers in Punjab. Besides the Bada (large) Udaseen Akhara, there exists the Naya (new) Udaseen Akhara. The word Udaseen means "neutral." The akharas follow the teachings of Guru Nanak and are guided by the Guru Granth Sahib, Sikhism's holy scripture.

Baba Sri Chand, son of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru, founded the Udaseen Akhara. The Nirmala Akhara operates centers throughout Punjab and other regions of India. The sadhus in these akharas honor both Hindu scriptures—like the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, and Upanishads—and the Guru Granth Sahib. While the Akharas departed from the Mahakumbh on February 3, the Kumbh Mela will continue until February 26.

On January 29, Harnam Singh Dhumma, the leader of Damdami Taksal, an organization that promotes Sikhism, visited the Mahakumbh for a holy dip. He mentioned that certain Sikh sects, especially the Udaseen and Nirmala Akharas, take part in the Kumbh. Dhumma was invited by both akharas and the Uttar Pradesh government, highlighting that Damdami Taksal holds significant value and bears no ill will towards any religion. Despite objections from the Sikh Youth Federation (Bhindranwale), Dhumma pointed out that Sikh gurus had visited Prayagraj and Kashi.

As per the reports, Navtej Singh Namdhari from the Namdhari religious group explained that the Guru Gobind Singhji had sent Sikhs to Kashi to study, who were then known as Nirmale—the highly educated Sikhs. Hence, Nirmala Akhara represents these followers. He also mentioned that the Namdhari religious group had set up a camp at the Mahakumbh, with many devotees from the religious group taking holy dips. 

Numerous devotees from Haryana, Punjab, and from all parts of the country have Visited the Mahakumbh in all the 13 Sikh akharas, focusing attention on the need to grasp the history of sikh akharas, also Sikhs arrange langar at the Mahakumbh from January 16 to February 6 as they did in pran pratishtha in Ayodhya a year ago. In 2013 the SGPC organized a stall at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, which featured literature related to Sikhism in Hindi and Punjabi language.
